Mai Lincoln

Artist

In 2011, after studying geography and urban planning, Mai Lincoln co-directed her first documentary “À moi de jouer”. This first experience made her want to tell stories, she then directed documentaries and documentary series broadcast on France 3 Bretagne and local TV stations. At the same time, she followed a training course on documentary filming at the Gobelins (2 months), and on documentary writing at Ty films Mellionnec. “Le manoir des Poux” is her latest film (52 minutes), the story of a writer, Annie Coz, who, after disowning the language of her childhood, Breton, decides to make it the language of her novels.

In parallel to her work as a documentary filmmaker, Mai Lincoln discovered fiction, initially as an actress for “Mouchig dall”, the youth programme on France 3 Bretagne, but also as an actress for dubbing, short films, theatre (Paritito, Teatr Piba), radio fiction, and then as a first assistant director for cinema and theatre (Noz / Ar mor atav / Donvor). In 2014 she created the theatre company Paritito with Mélanie Jouitteau and Anaël Guyomarc’h, an important meeting for Mai where for the first time fiction and documentary were mixed. They worked together on texts by Mélanie Giotto, whose raw material was the collected word.

In November 2022 Mai shot her first short film “Maria”, which she had the opportunity to develop at Groupe Ouest, and in February 2023 her first radio fiction, an adaptation of “Louise / Les ours”, a text by Karin Serres, was broadcast on local radio stations in Brittany.
