Artist
Irisz Kovacs (b. 1999) is a romanian visual artist and theatre director. She got her BA in Theatre Directing at the Faculty of Theater and Film, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca , and since then, her work has been selected in festivals such as Sunlight Theatre Festival Timișoara, Festival Studio Târgu-Mureș, Sibiu International Theatre Festival, Fest FDR Timișoara, Undercloud Bucharest, Theatre Networking Talents Craiova ans the National Theatre Festival Bucharest. Shewas the 2021 resident director at the Fresh Start Residency, creating the devised show ”A child for a liter of gas”. She was the winner of D-Butan-T Sfântu Gheorghe festival, winner of the first prize at Giurgiu Theatre Directing Festival’s first edition, and was nominated for the Debut Uniter prize for her show, ”8 fathers” co-produced by State Theatre of Constanța and Babeș-Bolyai University. Her last work, „Tschick” a coming-of-age story meant to engage teenage audiences, can be seen at Deutsches Staatstheater Timișoara.
