Valentijn Fit

Director

Valentijn studied Theatre at the University of Amsterdam and Theatre Directing at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. In 2003 he moved to the North of the Netherlands for a three-year traineeship at Noord Nederlands Toneel focussing on the management of theatre companies.

 

From 2006 to 2016 he was managing director of PeerGrouP, a site-specific theatre company inspired by and working with communities in rural areas. PeerGrouP is based in the northern province of Drenthe and performs in the north of the Netherlands as well as abroad with projects in Wales, Germany, France and the United States.  

Valentijn started working for Tryater in 2016. Highlights of his period with Tryater were producing the opening of the European Capital of Culture Leeuwarden Fryslan 2018, overseeing the transition between the former artistic director (Ira Judkovskaja) and the present artistic director (Tatiana Pratley) and the ongoing research in new ways to reach a large audience with innovative creative work.
