Researcher
Nathalie Beekman is a Dutch artist, educator and researcher. Since 1991 she has been involved in film, media art, situational art and artistic research in social practices. Between 2001 and 2012, she was artistic director of Pavlov medialab and Pavlov E-lab. These labs were respectively focused on interdisciplinary (situational) art projects in public space and on art & science collaborations. Since 2013, she has been artistic director of Sparklab, an art & philosophy lab for children which she developed through a PhD research at the University of Groningen. She is also a part-time teacher at the Master of Art Education North and regularly conducts artistic research for the Image in Context Lectorate, both part of the Minerva Academy of the Arts in Groningen.
Nathalie is author and co-editor of the book ‘Cities within your city’, a ‘cookbook’ about the art projects the Pavlov labs and also of ‘A Sense of Green’, a booklet about biobased design.
